Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) are widely used In the application of lightning protection. They can be connected in series in AC or DC lines to achieve lightning protection.
Using special ceramics as the shell, there is a pair of discharge gaps inside and filled with inert gas which will be equipped with a discharge induction. When a high surge voltage strikes, the electric field strength induces ionization of the gas in the tube, which starts to conduct electricity, and discharges the surge current to the ground to protect the overall circuit.
Application
- High frequency circuit
- Signal lightning protection
- Power lightning protection
